Adrian Callum, one of our engineers from across the pond at ENTEC North America, along with companions Steve Austin and John Allison, recently completed a car rally with a difference.
In a car worth less than £200 they traveled from Calais down the Western side of France, through Bordeaux and Biarritz, over the border onto the mountains of the lower Pyrenees to Barcelona, Spain, in a charity run called the Barcelona Bangers. Under their team name the Alchotraz Ex Con's, they spent over 3 days in a vehicle bereft of many of the modern day comforts we now take for granted, until the grueling task was complete, raising money for St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds, ENGLAND.
They started from Calais on the 18th July and finished on the 20th July in Barcelona.
We at ENTEC International would like to give well deserved congratulations to the guys for their hard work and dedication, and gladly donate £200 to a very deserving cause. Well done lads.

For many years now, Entec have been supporters of this charity.
Four out of five children with Leukaemia now survive, but current
treatments are invasive and have distressing side effects. Until
a cure can be found we must all work together to minimise the
suffering caused by Leukaemia.
The cost of this work is substantial.

Earlier in 2007, we were approached by the makers of a Channel 4 television programme, who asked if we could assist with a project they were filming in Uganda. The programme called Millionaires Mission, involved business leaders from the UK working with local people to improve living standards in their village.
Tony Callaghan (bottom left of the picture), invited kids from St Theresa’s School in the UK to fill a shoe box with toys & books they no longer needed, with the intention of sending them to this Ugandan village…but how to get them there?
Initially he approached Uganda Breweries, part of the Diageo Group, to see if they could assist. They in turn suggested that he approach Entec to see if we would get involved. We were more than happy to help and boxes full of toys, games & books were duly collected from Wigan and bought back to our warehouse in Halesowen where they were palletised, packed for seafreight and despatched.
When the goods arrived at the port, Uganda Breweries then arranged for clearance and delivery to the village.
By using our own staff, recycling pallets & packaging and engaging our regular freight forwarding company SDV in the project, we were able to get everything delivered without any cost to the villagers.
The programme, a four part series, was transmitted on Channel 4 on September 19th 2007.
"On a personal level, as the Series Producer out in Uganda, it was wonderful to see the connection made between school children in the UK and the local school kids, and I'm very grateful to Entec for assisting in that".
